Hi! My name is Niko Tompuri. I am a musician and a composer, born in Helsinki, Finland 1982.
My first instrument was the guitar and I remember playing along with many Toto records as a teenager.
Soon after I discovered singing and it became my main instrument as I went on to study music in the early 2000's.
During my musical studies I also discovered composition. At first I wanted to be a classical composer and put a lot of time and effort into building my craftmanship. I studied composition in Visby, Gotland (Sweden) in 2005-06, under the instruction of Henrik Strindberg.
After returning to Finland, I contínued my musical studies in Jyvaskyla. I graduated as a musician in 2011 and as music teacher in 2016.
During the years I've done a lot of choir singing and also taken piano lessons as a part of my pedagogical studies.
From the year 2018 I've composed music for radio and audiobooks. Since I started composing my own music in 2005, I have made a small catalogue ranging from classical (chamber and orchestral) pieces to popular music and jazz. I've published some of my music on my Youtube channel and some other platforms.
